About Caffeyole

I am a human who is constantly learning. Blogging for the planet/cooks/words as often as I can. I am learning how to bake without an oven. Creating new recipes for the out-of-oven casseroles/bakes is challenging yet super fun. On the other side of my spectrum, I am expanding my brain cells with iOS development courses and more computer science stuff. As an aside project, I am learning how to development websites both with hosting sites and programmatically. This sounds like a lot, and it is and can be tricky staying fit but I make damn sure to incorporate my daily workouts into my day (except on Mondays 💪🏽) Cheers and good things!

She’s here…author Thea Gregory

Hello everyone! The moment we’ve been waiting for!

I would like to share some great information with you about author Thea Gregory’s new book, Sanity Vacuum!

Author of Sanity Vacuum and more….

Release Date: December 6, 2012.

Sanity Vacuum Synopsis:

Vivian Skye just finished university, and qualified for her first-choice internship. Not many would consider the distant and isolated Extra-Galactic Observatory cushy, but it’s a dream come true for Vivian. Hailing from the low-tech planet of Aurora, she studied hard for this opportunity—and to leave her old life, and planet behind.

Her assignment is simple: perform a routine upgrade for the station’s supercomputer, quIRK. Her reception isn’t a friendly one, and eccentric quIRK becomes her only friend. However, the station’s administrator, Bryce Zimmer is obsessed with quIRK—he suspects that the station’s computer may have achieved sentience, something explicitly prohibited by the ABACUS Protocol. Compounding their issues, Bryce’s traumatic and privileged past makes him distrust Vivian from the beginning. Desperate to keep control, he sabotages quIRK in order to eliminate Vivian. But, his plan threatens to consume the entire station and send them into the unknown void of intergalactic space.

Vivian must struggle to survive not only Bryce’s megalomania, but also the emerging artificial super intelligence that is quIRK. Can Vivian and quIRK learn to trust each other and work together, before it’s too late?

Sanity Vacuum is book one of The ABACUS Protocol.

Race day here and gone…

Here I come slowly yet surely

There I am, see the person with the number? Yeehaw! I feel fantastic and accomplished. Though I came in two minutes after the three-hour mark, I’m still proud of myself.

I must admit that I almost threw in the towel at mile ten. Yes, my moderate injury began to get the best of my psyche. Making matters more intense, the Fluid and water stations were out of cups–NO! Yes. Oh yes indeed. This was after stopping twice and walking for several minutes contemplating failure to complete the race.

Instead of allowing the anger rushing through me to cancel me out all together, I used said anger to plunge on to the finish line . Consequently–in a strange way–I’m grateful I became angry.

Now it’s time to plan for my next race, only this time I’ll run for a different cause, a more meaningful one, and fair far better both mentally and physically.

Until the next time, I wish you all well and achievement of your own goals.

Ciao for now,

yms

In six days…

Image

In six days, I’ll be running 13.1 miles from San Luis Obispo to Shell Beach, California aka, City to the Sea.

After yesterday’s ten-miler, I realized my most challenging mile: the tenth mile. My legs felt like they were going to snap clean off my torso–I’m very glad they did not.

On the upside of post-high-mileage input is the euphoric sensation titillating my synoptic sensors: I feel fantastic!

Until Sunday my friends.

Ciao for now,

In two weeks…

In two weeks, I’ll be running in a race that my mind is ready for only my body isn’t quite there yet….

What to do, what to do?

I’ll run the race anyway, throw caution to the wind, die trying or something of the like. Until then and only after will I know exactly what transpired in my near fancy-footed future.

Ciao for now,

yms

Okay, so I haven’t found the balance…

Here it is almost one month later, and I haven’t found the balance between running and writing…. How difficult can it be? Cheese and rice! I mean, why can’t i write and run? It’s a rhetorical question as I know the answer to that one: Just sit in The Chair before you run!

Wishing you all great balance with little to no confusion or regrets.

Ciao,

yms

The Mini-Mountain Challenge….

Gotta want it!

Soon, I’ll be jogging ALL the way up this mini-mountain. But for now, a cruising pace does the trick. 🙂

It’s official, I am now signed up to do the City to the Sea Half Marathon! My friend and I celebrated last night by dining on a heart-healthy enchilada casserole I made—if you’d like the recipe, shoot me a note—and leftover bulgur salad. Yumyum!

Tonight I will walk/jog for six miles on predominantly flat land (I prefer going uphill, but I’ll settle for what I can get in. Plus, cross-training is essential in the preparation of a half marathon.

Ciao for now.

After 14 years, here I go again….

It was 1998, October, when I ran my last half marathon. At that time, I averaged thirty-five miles of running per week and was in tip top physical shape. But today, I have ran thirty-five miles in two years! Yahoo! Well, I must try regardless of what once was and what actually is. Right?

The training began on Sunday with a hike in the heat up a thousand plus feet equating to 1.25 hours. Not bad, not great, but definitely not bad at all. Tomorrow I will hike up the same mountain and extend my journey another three miles one-way totaling a whopping eight miles total. I’m salivating at the mere thought of such an excursion!

I calculate I’ll be back to running thirty-plus miles per week by September. Keep your fingers crossed for me as I undertake the second major challenge of 2012. The first one is finishing my third novel and starting its sequel by the same month. The last two novels I wrote kept me in my writing chair much too long causing me to gain some unwanted mass around my mid-body—not this time folks!

Until the next time when I have met the second of many goals already set in motion.

Ciao for now, this is yms signing off from Grover Beach, California!

PS: My puppy may be too young to run long. Maybe next year. 🙂
